The Best Private Preparatory or Pre-Preparatory Schools

At Education Advisers we understand that parents investing in a private prep school education for their child will want to be sure that they are choosing the best school possible. This is especially true if your child is strong academically and you want them to be prepared for entry to a top senior school. However, in the absence of standardised universal testing for children of prep school age it is extremely difficult to measure one school against another.

Our approach is to look at the leaver destinations of all stand alone prep schools which give an indication of the academic success of the school. The schools listed in our table of Top 10 Preps provide transparent information about the senior schools their pupils progress to. All send a high percentage of children to the academically most successful senior schools, many with scholarships or exhibitions (Top 10 Preps). There are a number of other outstanding prep schools which are not included in the list because specific leaver destination information has not been made available. We do, however, hold a huge amount of data on all schools and are happy to discuss this with parents using our consultancy services.

Prep schools that are part of “all-through” schools, where the majority of pupils progress to the senior school, are listed separately according to the success of pupils at GCSE level in the senior school. See league table.

We fully appreciate that not every child will be suited to a highly academic, pressurised prep school environment, and our bespoke advice service will help you identify the best school for your child. Call us on +44 (0) 1732 368767 or complete the Enquiry Form.
